FAQs about the Fungal Nail Treatment:
How does the treatment work?
Most patients describe the sensation as similar to a hot pin prick or the flick of an elastic band. Whilst mildly uncomfortable, most people tolerate treatment well. A skin cooling device may be utilised to reduce any discomfort.
Is there any aftercare?
For a successful treatment, the chain of infection must also be broken. To help to do this, the homecare advice must be followed carefully. This includes bringing a clean pair of socks to every treatment, application of Dactarin or another anti-fungal cream, disinfecting nails clippers, scissors, shoes, and socks after every use and where possible, wear open toes shoes without socks whilst treatment continues. A full homecare advice sheet can be obtained from the clinic.
How many treatments are needed?
A course of 10 treatments is recommended, the treatment sessions are every 2 weeks.
How does the treatment feel? Is it painful?
A degree of heating and some discomfort is felt during treatment. However, a skin cooling device can be used to make treatment as comfortable as possible.
