FAQs about Laser Hair Removal:
How does IPL laser hair removal work?
IPL stands for intense pulse light. Light is selectively absorbed by melanin, the pigment in the hair follicle. The light energy heats the pigment and effectively destroys the hair follicle without damaging the surrounding cells.
How many sessions of IPL laser hair removal is needed?
You will typically need 6 or more treatments for optimum results. The only hair that is affected is the hair which is actively growing, sessions are usually done every 4-8 weeks.
Does IPL laser hair removal hurt?
IPL laser is typically not pain free – clients usually describe the sensation as a ‘flick from an elastic band’ but tolerable.
Is IPL laser hair removal permanent?
IPL hair removal is a permanent solution to excess hair, however top up sessions are recommended as new hair follicles can start to actively grow. Clients usually return every 12-18 months for their top up treatment. These are discounted to the course price.
Does IPL laser hair removal work on all skin types/hair colour?
Most skin types are suitable, we often find the best results are on those clients with fair skin and dark hair. Grey/white hairs are not suitable for the treatment – we would recommend having electrolysis for hair removal.
Can I shave/wax during the process?
Shaving during your hair removal journey is absolutely fine, however we would recommend not waxing between treatments so that the hair follicle is still there.
